Our Vision
By 2030, Constructor University will achieve global recognition in the high-tech industry for excellence in research and educational innovation. Building on its integration into local and global higher education networks, in collaboration with industry, and with a strong focus on the computer, business, and physical sciences, the university will foster the ambition, creativity, initiative, curiosity, and motivation of 5,000 on-campus students.
Our Story
We are often asked—by students, parents, partners and the public—where does our name “Constructor” come from? We believe Constructor is more than a name. It is an ethos, a mindset, and a philosophy. A Constructor is driven by curiosity, engaging with knowledge to create something new.

Our History

25 Years of Constructing Knowledge
1999 - Founded
With the University of Bremen, Rice University and the City of Bremen. First state recognition granted.
2001 - Campus opens
130 students from 40 countries and 27 professors arrive; Helmut Schmidt speaks at the opening.
2007 - Jacobs University
Following the Jacobs Foundation's €200M investment in 2006, the largest donation ever made to a European university, the institution becomes Jacobs University Bremen.
2022 - Constructor University
A new name and a new chapter — joining the global Constructor ecosystem.
2026 - A new era
Nobel laureate Sir Konstantin Novoselov appointed to lead the university.
