Across Europe, the shortage of student housing in higher education is becoming a critical issue, creating a strong investment opportunity for stable and sustainable returns.
- The supply of purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) has not kept pace with increasing student enrolments, leading to a severe housing deficit.
- Many major university cities across Germany, the Netherlands, France, and the UK report housing shortages, pushing rents higher and increasing demand for new developments.
- Housing accessibility is a key factor in students' choice of university, with many opting for locations where accommodation is available and affordable.
- The growing gap between housing demand and supply means higher occupancy rates and long-term rental stability, making the student housing sector one of the most resilient real estate investments.
With the rise in international student mobility and governments prioritizing higher education as an economic growth driver, investing in well-located, high-quality student housing presents a unique and stable return opportunity. Constructor Campus Capital aims to address this shortage by developing state-of-the-art student accommodations that cater to the evolving needs of the modern student population.
In June 2025, Constructor Group entered a major development partnership with Ten Brinke, one of Europe’s leading real estate developers, to co-invest in and deliver the Constructor Campus Masterplan in Bremen. This €500M initiative marks a transformational step in scaling up our infrastructure and expanding significantly Constructor University's housing capacity, new start-ups, academic and research facilities, as well as an aparthotel on campus.
The partnership significantly contributes to our development strategy and reinforces the investment-grade fundamentals of the Constructor Campus Capital funds.
