“Jacobs definitely challenges and inspires. They force you to go beyond yourself and set yourself new goals – I think that’s something that Jacobs definitely teaches you: go beyond what is expected, try to reach goals that you don’t think are possible, or that you thought you couldn’t. I think you can really make things happen, and then you’re capable of doing that. That’s what Jacobs teaches you.”
Max Lohmann, graduate from 2012 in International Social Science who now works as a policy advisor for GIZ, the German Development Cooperation Agency
“Transdisciplinary courses in completely unrelated fields opened my mind. Now, when I see a problem, I generally can look at it from a whole new set of angles, which I was not able to do before I came here.”

As a core element of Constructor University’s employability approach students are required to engage in a mandatory internship while earning credit points.
This gives students the opportunity to gain first-hand practical experience in a professional environment, apply their knowledge and understanding to a professional context, reflect on the relevance of their major and their own role in employment and society, and find professional orientation.
As an alternative to the full-time internship, students interested in setting up their own company can apply for a start-up option to focus on the development of their business plan.
Constructor University provides services and events such as career fairs with the aim of connecting potential global, national, and local employers and students. This forms the basis for a fruitful exchange between companies and future employees and thus lays the foundation for effective company recruitment as well as successful students’ career entries. Company representatives and professionals engage in the Annual Career Fair, on-campus presentations, and recruiting events.
For many world-leading companies Constructor University [former: Jacobs University] is the first choice university in Germany for recruitment.
“Jacobs [now: Constructor University] is probably one of the top universities from which Microsoft hires software engineers in all of Germany“
B. Mercer, Microsoft
