Privacy Policy for our social media sites

The following provides information on how we handle your data in accordance with Art. 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Controller
We, [Constructor University Bremen gGmbH], operate the following social media sites:

You can find our contact details in our imprint.

Besides us, the operator of the social media platform itself also has to be considered. This operator is also considered a controller that processes data and over which we only have limited influence. At the points at which we have an influence and are able to parametrize the data processing, we work to ensure the compliant handling of personal data by the operator of the social media platform within the available framework. But, in many cases, we are not able to influence the data processing by the operator of the social media platform and do not know exactly what data it processes. However, the operator clarifies this in its privacy policy.

Data processing by us
The data that you enter on our social media sites, such as comments, videos, pictures, likes, public messages, etc., are published by the social media platform and never used or processed for other purposes by us. We merely reserve the right to delete the contents, if this becomes necessary. We may share your contents on our site, if this is a feature of the social media platform, and will communicate with you via the social media platform. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) sentence 1, lit. f GDPR. Data processing takes place in the interests of our public relations and communication activities.

If you would like to object to the processing of certain data, over which we have an influence, please use the contact details provided in the imprint. We will then review your objection or forward it to the social media platform where necessary.

If you submit an inquiry on the social media platform, we may also refer to other secure communication paths, which guarantee confidentiality, depending on the necessary response. You always have the option of sending us confidential inquiries using the address indicated in the imprint.

As already mentioned, wherever possible, we are focused on ensuring the compliant design of our social media sites at the points at which the provider of the social media platform allows us to do so. We only have a limited amount of influence over statistics, which the provider of the social media platform makes available to us, and cannot switch these off. But, we ensure that we are not provided with any additional, optional statistics.

Data processing by the operator of the social media platform
The operator of the social media platform employs web tracking methods. Web tracking can occur irrespective of whether you are logged in or registered with the social media platform. As already indicated above, we, unfortunately, have no influence on the web tracking methods of the social media platform. For example, we are not able to turn this off.

Please be aware: it is possible for the provider of the social media platform to use your profile and behavioral data to assess your habits, personal relationships, preferences, etc. We have no influence on the processing of your data by the provider of the social media platform in this respect.

You can find more detailed information on the data processing by the provider of the social media platform and additional opportunities for raising objections in the provider’s privacy policy:

In the cases in which we are jointly responsible for the processing together with the social media platform, you can find the key contents of the joint processing of your data here:

Your rights as a user
When processing your personal data, the GDPR gives you, the website user, certain rights, which you can exercise towards us as well as Facebook:

  1. Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR):

You have the right to obtain the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you and any necessary completion of incomplete personal data without undue delay.
You also have the right to obtain the erasure of personal data concerning you without undue delay where one of the reasons specified in Art. 17 GDPR applies, e.g. if the data is no longer required for the purposes for which they were collected.
  3. Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR):
You have the right to obtain restriction of processing where one of the requirements stated in Art. 18 GDPR applies, e.g. if you have objected to the processing for the duration of any verification.

In certain cases, which are specified in Art. 20 GDPR, you have the right to receive the personal data concerning you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third party.

If data are collected based on Art. 6 (1) sentence 1, lit. f (data processing for the purposes of legitimate interests) you have the right to object to the processing, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time. We will then no longer process the personal data unless we are able to provide evidence of compelling legitimate grounds for the processing, which override the interests, rights, and freedoms of the data subject, or the processing serves to assert, enforce, or defend against legal claims.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, if you are of the opinion that the processing of the personal data concerning you breaches the data protection regulations.
