The MSc Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is a 2-year, research-oriented Master’s program at Constructor University in Bremen, Germany. It combines perspectives from Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Robotics / Intelligent Systems, giving students opportunities to engage directly in research. It is designed to strengthen the academic pathway between Constructor University’s Bachelor’s and PhD programs.
The program combines advanced specialization with intensive research experience. It prepares students primarily for doctoral studies and also provides a strong foundation for careers in industry.
Students select one of six specialization tracks: Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, Communications and Signal Processing, or Intelligent Robots and Autonomous Driving. They keep the flexibility to broaden their profile through courses from other tracks or MSc programs
*Accreditation expected in Spring 2027
- Six specialized tracks cover the major areas of contemporary Computer Science and Engineering, all within one program.
- Research is built directly into the curriculum: three research projects and a Master’s thesis, connected to current faculty research, with opportunities to contribute to research projects and publications.
- Intensive individual supervision and guidance let students work closely with faculty on advanced research topics.
- Strong BSc–MSc–PhD integration creates a clear academic pathway from undergraduate studies through Master’s education into doctoral research.
- The program has industry relevance, with opportunities for advanced projects and Master’s theses involving regional and international companies.
The Computer Science and Engineering program provides students with advanced technical education combined with intensive research experience. The curriculum combines advanced courses with three dedicated research projects and a Master’s thesis, so approximately one third of the program is devoted to active research. Students receive individual supervision and work on research questions connected to current faculty research.
Unlike a Master’s program focused on a single specialization, CSE brings multiple areas of Computer Science and Engineering together within one research-oriented program. Its distinctive strength is the combination of broad specialization options with intensive individual research supervision.
Students select one of six specialization tracks and can broaden their profile through courses from other tracks or other MSc programs:
- Software Engineering
- Cybersecurity
- Artificial Intelligence
- Data Engineering
- Communications and Signal Processing
- Intelligent Robots and Autonomous Driving
At the end of the 2-year program, graduates will be able to:
- Apply advanced knowledge in computer science and electrical and computer engineering to understand, design, and develop complex systems and methods within their chosen area of specialization.
- Understand and critically evaluate current research findings, methods, and approaches in their chosen technical field, including their underlying principles, assumptions, capabilities, and limitations.
- Formulate relevant and original research questions, select appropriate methodologies, and independently conduct research projects that address complex technical problems.
- Design, implement, and systematically evaluate advanced systems and methods, using appropriate experimental or analytical approaches to produce rigorous and reproducible results.
- Plan and execute complex projects independently while managing time, resources, and technical constraints, both individually and as part of interdisciplinary teams.
- Integrate knowledge and methods from computer science and electrical and computer engineering to address complex interdisciplinary problems and develop innovative solutions.
The detailed Study Program Structure will become available soon.* Stay tuned!
