Meet Alec Bohman, a second-year International Relations: Politics and History student. He is a Mercator resident (and Resident Support Assistant) from Chicago, Illinois. German culture uniquely influenced his upbringing, thanks to German au pairs in his home during his formative years. His parents' involvement in international sectors also nurtured his global perspective, making the decision to pursue his education abroad a natural one. His high school German language classes only fueled his excitement to immerse himself in the language and culture.

"I really wanted the diversity that this school offered," Alec explains. "I didn't want to go to a place that wasn't international." With his appreciation for global perspectives and a passion for cultural exchange, Alec found his home at Constructor University. He applied to other schools in Germany, but the unique culture and vibe of Bremen, along with the welcoming campus, drew him in.

"I picked the International Relations: Politics & History program to combine history and social studies and politics. This combination shows how the world works and how we got to where we are now," says Alec. History is his favorite academic subject, but he is also interested and invested in politics and current events. The interdisciplinary approach allows him to explore the world's functions and how it has evolved to its current state. His passion for history is evident, but he also keeps a keen eye on world politics and current events, reflecting his broader interests and aspirations.

Alec's aspiration is to make history more tangible and accessible to everyone. He dreams of creating historical documentaries or a travel show. Currently, he is actively pursuing this dream through his YouTube channel, where he explores the history and local food of different cities and countries. His dedication to this endeavor is evident, reflecting his commitment to sharing his passion with the world.

This year, Mercator celebrated a resounding victory at ArtOn, and Alec was at the forefront of this triumph. Reflecting on the experience, Alec shares, "ArtOn is an exhilarating journey. It's about pouring three weeks of hard work into multiple significant projects. The pride people feel for their college at these grand events is palpable." His active involvement and unwavering dedication were key to the victory, underscoring his leadership and talent. And it was clear that Mercator had a blast in each event, leading to their ultimate triumph!

Stay tuned to see what Alec does next while making his mark at CU!
