This summer, Constructor is racing at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy. Five teams, including Constructor, are testing and preparing fully autonomous race cars, no drivers, just the racing line, ahead of the A2RL finals on Saturday, September 5, 2026, part of the ACI Racing Weekend.
This isn't Constructor sponsoring autonomous racing from the sidelines. It's Constructor's own team, competing. And the story doesn't start on race day: garage testing is already underway, and there are ways to follow along or be part of it well before September 5.
Twenty-five years after Constructor first opened its doors in Bremen, that same spirit of building, testing, and pushing forward is now on a racetrack.
Constructor has spent the summer testing and refining its autonomous race car, alongside four other university and research teams: TUM, PoliMOVE, Unimore, and Kinetiz. What started in the lab is now heading to one of motorsport's most iconic circuits, the same track that has hosted Formula 1 for decades.
Whether you follow autonomous racing closely or you're simply curious what "physical AI" looks like at full speed, this is a chance to see it firsthand.
Behind Constructor's team of sharp team of engineers, researchers, and students who've spent the summer turning code into something that has to perform on a real track, not just in simulation. They're the ones who've been in the garage during testing days, refining every decision the car makes before it ever reaches Imola. This is their project as much as it is Constructor's, built by people who chose to test their work under real pressure, not just theoretical conditions.

The racing line is the ideal path a car takes around a track: entering wide, clipping the apex, drifting back out on exit, to carry the most speed with the least steering and braking. Finding it has always been a human skill: feel, instinct, years of seat time. At Imola, it's the car doing that reading and choosing, with no one behind the wheel.
Race Day, September 5. The A2RL demo race is open to the public as part of the ACI Racing Weekend (September 4–6, 2026) at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
