Microcredentials – Challenges and Opportunities

Do I need a Master’s degree or maybe just a micro-course? Will I have higher chances to get my
dream job if I obtain this certificate? As I have little work experience, should I enrich my CV with
a micro-degree?

Microcredentials are also sometimes called micro-degrees or micro-courses. And they are
increasingly beloved. The idea to take a short course and obtain a certificate instead of
committing for a full degree is appealing – and it can make sense. But for whom? In which
circumstances? And how can it benefit your career? Will it replace classic degrees or
complement them?

These questions will be answered at the Constructor Career Symposium. Every year, the Career
Symposium explores a burning topic related to career or application. It includes a keynote
speech held by an expert and a panel discussion involving internal and external speakers. The
goal is to hear different opinions and to highlight various aspects of a highly relevant topic.

Goal

The Constructor Career Symposium is organized by the Career Services Center at Constructor
University. It aims to foster a constructive discussion about a career-relevant topic and to create
networking opportunities between alumni, professors, external experts and students.

Format

The event consists of a keynote speech and a panel discussion. Panelists from different
backgrounds and with various points of view on the topic are invited to share their opinions and
debate with each other.

The panel discussion is followed by an open debate with the audience, where further questions
will be addressed and answered.

Please note that undergraduate students who wish to receive a pass for attending the event
must register for it via the QR-Code which will be available in the Conference Hall.
