ONLINE PUBLIC TALK: FEELING AT HOME IN GERMANY

The highlight of the intersession course “German Politics and Culture” of the Foundation Year Program at Jacobs University is a public talk with a guest speaker and a discussion with students and invited audience. This year, Dr. Regina Arant will present results from a representative quantitative study on the conceptualization, measurement and integrative power of ‘Heimat’ commissioned by the Bundesministerium des Innern, für Bau und Heimat (Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and Home Affairs). The aim of this public talk is to examine the role of ‘Heimat’ and to discuss its societal as well as political implications for Germany. The subsequent discussion round shall give the students and the audience the opportunity to interact with the guest speaker and to discuss the topic at hand.

The event is open to the public. No registration needed.
