Open Air Cinema Evening on Campus
We're excited to invite you to a free, open cinema evening right here on our campus on August 27, 2026. Gather on the IRC lawn to enjoy two special films: the grand premiere of our university's 25th anniversary history documentary, What Remains is Change, and an exclusive screening of Picture a Scientist.
For ninety years, one piece of land outside Bremen has served as an anti-aircraft barracks, a displaced persons camp, an army supply base, and now an international university — the same buildings hosting five completely different purposes. What Remains Is Change traces this history through the site itself and through four families whose separate journeys across the twentieth century, from Posen to Warsaw to a small town in Romania, all quietly converge on this one campus.

Picture a Scientist follows chemist Raychelle Burks and geologist Jane Willenbring on their academic journeys as women in research and teaching. It tells a story of strength, solidarity, and courageous women scientists who stand up against injustice and spark global change.
"There is a set of rules that was written by men. The men know it, they know all the moves. I did not have that set of rules."
— Biologist Nancy Hopkins
