Plaksha University is a private university in Mohali, Punjab, India that aims to create a new-generation technology university. The university began as an idea among a small group of friends - corporate leaders and entrepreneurs - more than a decade ago, and they became founders of the university. With time, the group grew to 150+ founders, changemakers, and corporate donors supporting the university and embodying the collective-philanthropy-and-collective-governance model, unique to the Indian higher education system.

Plaksha combines interdisciplinary technical education (we found emphases on communication and design particularly interesting), an institution-wide entrepreneurial mindset, and an intent to address grand challenges through academia-industry collaboration.

What does it mean to be a tech university in the 2020s? Can students truly contribute to addressing global challenges, or does it remain only a fascinating intellectual exercise? We will discuss these questions and more with Prof. Rudra Pratap, the Founding Vice Chancellor of Plaksha University.

"Currently, there are no seminars exclusively devoted to innovation in higher education. We want to change that. Our webinar series are meant to give both creators of unusual institutions and idea collectors like us a space to discuss what's possible."
