The Jacobs Foundation and Jacobs University Bremen are organizing an international challenge to find innovative and radical ideas for future higher education. The guidelines were developed in November 2018 during the symposium "B³ - Bildung Beyond Boundaries". Applications can be submitted effective immediately. In the course of the challenge, the Jacobs Foundation will fund selected projects with a total amount of up to 650,000 Euros (750,000 Swiss francs).

The challenge will promote cooperation between international and interdisciplinary teams and focuses on evidence-based educational research. "The participants of the challenge B³ - Bildung Beyond Boundaries came from very different fields, such as computer science and psychology. The discussions with them have encouraged us to look for radical ideas from very different perspectives in our ideas competition," says Sandro Giuliani, Managing Director of the Jacobs Foundation. "We are already looking forward to the submissions and to accompanying the projects scientifically at our university together with the idea providers" adds Prof. Dr. Michael Hülsmann, President of Jacobs University.

About Jacobs Foundation:
The Jacobs Foundation invests in the future of young people so that they become socially responsible and productive members of society.
In order to achieve this goal, children and youth must be given better opportunities for positive development and equitable access to education. Whatever their background, place of residence or family income, all children should have the chance to reach their full potential. Early childhood plays a key role in this context; research has shown that this is the most important developmental phase in a person’s life. Moreover, educational programs and resources need to address each child’s individual needs. In the 21st century, new technologies aimed at facilitating individualized learning are becoming increasingly important. This is why the Jacobs Foundation is funding global research on learning and child development, supporting innovative scientists and implementing practical projects in early childhood and rural livelihoods.
