For months they have been preparing; now it’s crunch time: On March 24th and 25th, the most convincing business idea will be selected. Ten international teams have qualified for the finale of the Jacobs Startup Competition 2017. The winners of the startup competition receive a monetary prize in the amount of 3000 Euro. Journalists are cordially invited to the event; registration is requested.

Over the course of the past few months, the organizing team for the competition, which is carried out by students for students, has received about 120 applications from Europe and the USA. The ten best concepts can now be presented on campus. Among others, participants come from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the University of Cambridge in England, and Carleton University in Canada. Also represented are the University of Bremen, the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich, the University of Bonn, and the Rhenish Westphalian Technical University Aachen (RWTH).

At the two-day event, experienced mentors are also available to give teams feedback and suggestions about their project. In workshops, experts provide tips on how to found a company successfully; in addition, the young entrepreneurs can speak with companies and potential investors. The high point of the Jacobs Startup Competition is the presentation of the individual concepts before an expert audience, followed by the award ceremonies.
