From degree program to independent business? Jacobs University provides help to get careers started: Through November 27th, students can register their business ideas for the startup competition and get valuable support on their way toward entrepreneurship. In the first phase of the multi-month competition, the participants will develop their ideas for the products or services they would like to offer. As they do so, they will receive support in the form of mentoring, working materials, background materials, and a network of successful entrepreneurs, professors, and consultants. Finally, experienced mentors from various areas will give them feedback and suggestions on their sketches and ideas. Many of them are alumni of Jacobs University. In the third and final phase, the participants will present their concepts to an expert audience at a two-day event on March 24th and 25th of the coming year. The participants with the most convincing business ideas will receive monetary prizes or other startup assistance for their independent business, which will be provided by sponsors. The Jacobs Startup Competition is open to all registered students – individually or as a team. The competition is organized by students at Jacobs University, enabling them, among other things, to gain practical experience in project management. Participation in the Jacobs Startup Competition is free of charge. Additional information on the schedule and the competition process can be found at http://www.jacobs-startup.com.
