Microsoft Corporation awards stipends to Computer Science students at Jacobs

Microsoft Corporation has awarded a stipend of €1,500 to two Computer Science (CS) students at Jacobs University. Petre Munteanu and Alina Dima, both from Romania and in their third year at Jacobs University, have received the stipend for their academic achievements. March 26, 2015 Jacobs University has a long-standing collaboration with Microsoft Corporation. The company regularly holds recruiting and career events on campus and has already hired many Jacobs University students for internships during their studies and for full-time positions after their graduation. Microsoft Corporation also recently took part in the Jacobs Career Fair on February 25, 2015 and has supported the first major student-run hackathon jacobsHack! in Fall 2014. Benjamin Mercer, Microsoft global university talent acquisition specialist, comments: “Jacobs University was one of the top universities in Germany targeted by Microsoft for the recruitment of Computer Science students in 2014 and we are looking forward to even increase the numbers in the years to come.”  Britt Allen, from the Microsoft University Recruiting team at Microsoft HQ in Redmond, US, adds: “We think Jacobs University students have a very high standard of education and regularly impress us with their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and transdisciplinary thinking.” Predrag Tapavicki, Career Counselor at Jacobs University’s Career Services Center, says: „We are very happy to enjoy such a great relationship with Microsoft Corporation which allows us to put our students in touch with their recruiters. Aside from the possibility of future employment, the stipend is a further incentive for our students to excel in their studies whilst at Jacobs University.”
