Opening the door for promising young individuals: Constructor University and SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit celebrate year 12 of partnership
Access to quality education is a fundamental right that should be available to all young people, regardless of their background, circumstances or country of origin. That lies at the heart of the Global Scholarship Program by SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit, a globally active non-profit based in Germany. Constructor University is helping make this vision a reality by collaborating with SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit and opening doors for talented young individuals who might otherwise lack the opportunity to pursue higher education.
For the past twelve years, Constructor University has proudly collaborated with SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit, helping aspiring scholars unlock their potential. Through this long-standing partnership, the university has supported and empowered bright young minds, equipping them with the skills and knowledge, as well as helping them cultivate networks necessary to build a successful future. “Our scholarship recipients are as diverse and international as Constructor University itself,” said Claudia Spieker, Corporate Relations & Talent Programs Officer at Constructor University. This shared global outlook is reflected in the composition of the scholarship program, which has seen 25 students from ten different countries complete their studies at the university to date.
Beyond benefiting from a first-class academic education, these students also contribute significantly to campus life, bringing their unique perspectives, experiences and cultures. “Their presence alone enriches the university community, fostering a vibrant and dynamic learning environment where students from all over the world can learn from each other,” Spieker added.
The value of this partnership extends beyond the classroom, providing students with far-reaching opportunities. “With its focus on interculturality and excellent study programs, Constructor University, in collaboration with SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit, creates diverse opportunities for our scholars, building a future full of possibilities together,” says Rumbidzai Maunze, Head of Scholarships and Educational Development, SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit. “Constructor University is an ideal partner for us to open doors and make dreams come true.”
More than just financial support, the Global Scholarship Program of SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit is a holistic initiative designed to nurture students on multiple levels. In addition to covering tuition and living expenses, the program offers comprehensive mentoring, psychosocial support and career guidance to ensure that scholars have the tools they need to thrive both academically and personally.
We are proud to accompany our scholarship holders on their path to independence and active participation in society, with the aim of contributing to a fairer world,” Maunze emphasizes. “Education is a fundamental right. We make it a reality.” Through this invaluable partnership, Constructor University and SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit continue to change lives, empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
The scholarship holders' preferred study programs at Constructor University include Global Economics & Management and Industrial Engineering & Management. Many of the graduates go on to start a career in Germany, while others continue their academic career and complete a Master's degree or doctorate. The cooperation agreement is slated to run through 2028 and it is expected to be extended beyond that.
