IRC Campus – February Recap

Intro

February! A new semester after a long winter break. The campus slowly came back to life as students returned, reunited with friends, and settled back into early-morning lectures. This month was filled with career opportunities, community development, and Sexual awareness campaigns. For Bar Night enthusiasts, TOS reopened and kicked off the semester with a Turkish-themed Bar Night. Bar Nights are officially back on schedule, meaning Fridays once again come with music, themed decorations, and a chance to unwind after a long academic week.

February 3rd & 4th: Career Fair

At the beginning of the month, Constructor University hosted its annual Career Fair. This year, it took place over two days, with Day One focusing on companies that were physically present. Booths filled the venue as students moved between employers, asking questions about internships, graduate programs, and career pathways. For many students, especially second- and third-year ones, this was an opportunity to practice presenting themselves professionally while learning what employers look for in potential candidates.

Day Two, on the other hand, was completely online. Virtual sessions allowed students to connect with recruiters, attend presentations, and explore opportunities beyond Germany.

During the Career Fair, students had the opportunity to meet potential employers face-to-face and receive tips on their CVs and Cover Letters. Hiring managers offered students tips and advice on improving their applications, and students had the opportunity to put themselves out there and learn to market themselves to potential employers. Furthermore, there were Alumni Talks at Constructor University, where alumni shared advice with students on navigating job applications and choosing a path that complements their major and interests.

February 11th: CIP Fair

Midway through the month, the Community Impact Project (CIP) Fair took place in the IRC Foyer, during which students gathered to learn about Constructor University students' contributions to our Bremen community or elsewhere through semester-long projects. Students gathered to learn about projects focused on social impact, sustainability, and community engagement. This year, three teams presented their accomplishments and the impact they have had. The CIP Fair also created space for discussion, allowing students to exchange ideas and reflect on how they might contribute to future community-focused initiatives.

February 16th–27th: Sexual Health and Wellness Campaigns

Over the course of a week, Constructor University's health program organised workshops for students to learn about sexual health and how to prevent STIs. Students received free STI tests and condoms as part of the campaign. The initiative began with an Info Forum led by sexual health professionals, who provided educational sessions in an open, informative environment. Students were encouraged to ask questions and engage in conversations that are often overlooked despite their importance. The campaign ended with a Bar Night with students learning about sexual health in a relaxed environment, and they were provided free drinks and condoms.

Conclusion

Although it was the shortest month of the semester, it certainly did not disappoint. Remember to keep up with the weekly student newsletter for updates on campus and in Bremen. Hope you all have a good spring semester! Here’s to a productive and exciting semester ahead!
