What sides of the University captured your interest and convinced you to study there?
Having the privilege to be living at a place, the only place in the world, that represents so many nationalities, backgrounds and academic interests that makes you feel like you are in the centre of this globalized world. Many international universities and cities exist. But this campus is unique in the breadth it portrays.
Which aspects of your studies brought you the most joy and fulfillment in your learning
journey?
My major was Chemistry, but the university allowed me not to be confined by that but instead enabled me to not only dive into the bordering disciplines of Biochemistry and Biotechnology but also expand my knowledge to Business, Psychology and Arts. The science lab infrastructure and instructor-to-student ratioswere phenomenal and were nothing short of, if not better, than well-known institutions like MIT, where I was lucky enough to spend a research term during my undergraduate studies with Constructor University (Jacobs at the time). Whatever I was interested in, there was a way to learn more about it in the classroom and beyond.
Campus life is a unique trait of the University experience: what role did that play in your development outside the classroom? What's your best memory?
I see life outside of the classroom as at least as important as the academic side. The plethora of official student clubs and pastime activities fueled by the diversity of the campus residents are a key factor in personal development. In the end it is simple things that you experience every day and take for granted of life experience that are unique for others and will make you know the world is bigger than where you are from. One night in my first winter on campus I was in my room and started to hear shouting and screaming outside. Once I checked outside, I realized these were students chanting joyfully for it was the first time they experienced snow falling from the skies. Not long and we were sledding down the small hills on campus that same night. Seems trivial, and at the time rather weird, but the sum of these small experiences make you realize and learn firsthand how our world is perceived differently for everyone.
What is your career highlight thus far, and what are you most proud of as a young
professional?
I went into strategy consulting right after my undergraduate, soon after I was staffed on projects all over the world. Fair to say most of my German colleagues struggled a bit to adapt, but whether I was in an orderly small village in Switzerland, or the buzzing streets of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia - I always had not just experiences to compare to from my time on campus but contacts to reach out to and tell me how to best go around virtually any sort of people, job or place in the world. I am most proud that with my current startup I can gift back these unique experiences to not only students on „my“campus but also share it around the world. We are empowering GenZ to easily find others who share common interests, discover new ones and grow together.
Knowing that you are not alone, and your possibilities are limitless, can take you to levels that you have never even dreamt of before.
What advice would you give to the current students at Constructor University?
You don’t know it yet, and I would have brushed this away as overly romantic or cringe as a current student, but you will never be in a place where the world is your oyster like now. You walk down your college hallway and can experience a dozen different cultural backgrounds.
