Constructor University showcases startup prowess at first-ever Demo Day
In its first-ever Constructor Demo Day, Constructor University showcased the prowess of the University start-up ecosystem and its plans to become a global incubator for meaningful startups around the world, in an event joined by leaders in the startup scene throughout the Constructor ecosystem.
"Together with Constructor Capital and Constructor Tech, Constructor University places its focus on research & education, investment and innovation in deep-tech, software 3.0, as well as educational and scientific technologies. This is based on the firm belief that, over the next 3-10 years, these fields will generate a hundred billion US Dollars in profit, and will produce this generations’ new tech superstars, solving some of the largest challenges that humanity is currently facing. The selected start-ups had interesting visions, solid strategies, and good plans in precisely those areas. The Constructor Group is providing exactly the right expertise, services, talent, research and technology to maximize their chances of success” said Serg Bell, Chairman of the Board of Governors at Constructor University. “We are honored to have hosted this event at our Bremen campus. Bremen is an emerging European innovation hub, offering unparalleled opportunities for entrepreneurs and start-up growth. We are looking forward to the next edition of this event early next year.”
Demo Day, taking place on September 12th, was organized by Constructor Capital and Constructor Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center at Constructor University, the University’s hub for young changemakers who are seeking to innovate and build solutions to global challenges. Demo Day was the pinnacle and conclusion of a rigorous 2024 edition of the Constructor Accelerator Program and competition, which featured over 50 countries and a cohort of 30 teams, who spent eight weeks developing their impact-focused ideas.
“We are incredibly proud to support these innovative startups as they take bold steps to address global challenges,” said Matthias Winter, Managing Partner of Constructor Capital. “The passion and creativity we've seen at this Demo Day reflect the very ethos of Constructor Capital—fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and long-term value creation across diverse sectors.”
At Demo Day, 12 of these startups were able to pitch and presented their innovations and impact-focused ideas for the chance to win $100,000 in funding from Constructor Capital Venture Fund for their startup and to exchange views with leading startup experts throughout the Constructor ecosystem. Norwegian-based AR startup Ludenso and Colombian-based EdTech startup LingoQuesto came in first; the HotelTech startup Porte from Kazakhstan and the Advanced Materials startup Chiral Nano from Switzerland came in second and will receive a scholarship for a short entrepreneurial educational program at either MIT, Cambridge or INSEAD. The decision for the awards was based on the mission and vision of the startups, their product offering and their price modeling and scalability, among other things.
The startups participating in the competition represented a wide array of sectors from EdTech and HRTech to Robotics and Quantum. This included enticing pitches from Constructor University Alumni, including that of first-prize winner, the language startup LingoQuesto, which is empowering language educators with AI tools.
“It was really nice to grow alongside like-minded people, creative people and amazing projects so I am really happy to have been part of this program and share this time with other entrepreneurs and I think everyone of this program deserved this price,” said Tomas Vallejo Zangen, Founder of LingoQuesto and a 2023 graduate of Constructor University. “I am glad I got it, and I will be definitely making the most of it to be able to grow and succeed at what we proposed ourselves to do.”
Following its successful launch, Demo Day and the bootcamps of the Global Accelerator Program will return to the Bremen campus twice a year, offering upcoming entrepreneurs the opportunity to take their business to the next level. Supported by Constructor Tech start-ups have the chance to win the tools to flourish, from access to Constructor Tech’s advanced research platform CT to key resources such as six months' access to Aracor and discount codes for Nexford's 'From Idea to Pitch' course.
This is in line with the Constructor Group’s vision drive advancements in science, technology, and education through its integrated ecosystem, offering education, research, and business solutions.
