Constructor University congratulates Klaus Boehnke, Professor of Social Science Methodology, on his appointment as President of the Political Psychology Division of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). The IAAP is the world's oldest and largest international association of psychologists with individual membership, comprising more than 1,500 members from over 80 countries. Professor Boehnke’s four-year term as President began effective June 29, 2026.

The IAAP was founded in 1920 with the mission to promote the science and practice of applied psychology and facilitate interaction and communication among applied psychologists around the world. It carries out this mission through 18 divisions, each representing a different sub-field of applied psychology. The Political Psychology Division was founded in 1990 and examines human behavior at the intersection of psychology and politics, exploring topics such as voting behavior, political extremism, and shifting societal values.

"At a time when we have a war in Europe, and the rise of a right-wing party in Germany, unprecedented since World War II, Political Psychology has—one is inclined to even say, unfortunately—become one of the core disciplines of applied psychology," said Prof. Boehnke.
