Alumni Assemble: Homecoming 2023
This past weekend, over 70 alumni returned to Bremen to celebrate and reconnect during three days filled with nostalgia, camaraderie, and inspiring moments.
Friday Highlights
The festivities began Friday afternoon as alumni eagerly reunited with familiar faces. The evening featured a lively BBQ dinner outside the Campus Center, where alumni mingled with staff, faculty, and students under the glow of a perfect autumn evening. The nostalgia deepened with “Basement Tours of RLH,” guided by longtime Campus Life staff member Sigrid Jürgens, before many wrapped up the night at TOS.
Saturday Festivities
Saturday began with the Alumni Association’s annual General Assembly, where the new name, “Beyond the Pond Alumni Association,” was officially approved. This was followed by a lively discussion with Dr. Cornelia Scheitz, Dr. Stanislav Protasov, and Dr. Philipp Rösler. The afternoon featured food trucks, a bounce house, and the traditional Homecoming photo, while the campus-wide scavenger hunt brought out alumni teamwork and creativity. The day ended with the Gala Dinner, raising nearly €5000 for scholarships, and a spirited auction where President Protasov won the memorable “University Memory Bag.”
Sunday Farewell
The weekend concluded with a reflective discussion among 15 alumni, focusing on
strategies to strengthen the alumni community.
