Title of the talk:

Sex or No Sex:

Stressful decision in plant systems and underlying genetic and epigenetic mechanisms revisited

We aim to unravel sex-specific developmental mechanisms across evolutionarily extant biological systems in order to dissect molecular signatures of adaptive evolution. Evolution of convergent and divergent reproductive mechanisms that regulate gamete and spore development can be traced throughout eukaryotes. Organismal evolution in general and plant evolution in particular, is built on variation of the same theme. Evolutionary changes have been dictated primarily by abiotic factors such as stress gradients of water, light, temperature etc. Transcription factors and underlying regulatory networks are of our primary focus. I will present our recent findings in support of evolutionary ancient transcriptional network that mediates stress response and reproductive development in plants, and explain a novel avenue to understand its role across eukaryotes.

All are wecome!
