Jacobs University Becomes Constructor University
November 28, 2022
An international community, vibrant and diverse, rooted in academic excellence – this will remain the essence of the private English-speaking University in Bremen Nord, which from today onwards will operate under its new name: Constructor University.
Constructor is inspired by core aspects of a learning environment, and fitted to a community of young aspiring scientists and future leaders – as it has always existed on the university campus in Bremen. With “construction” being a process of creating complex objects and ideas across all disciplines, it is understood as an essential skill which enables the next generation to solve the challenges of its times.
The Constructor framework can be applied across many fields, from physics to computing, life science, philosophy, education, architecture, and arts. Akin to this spirit, Constructor University will continue to offer its wide range of programs, including hybrid and digital formats, as well as continuously developing new ones. Values, such as diversity, tolerance and a sense of community continue to be essential on campus. A culture rooted in leadership and the entrepreneurial spirit, and skills, such as critical and creative thinking and problem solving, remain an important part of the university’s approach.
“We will take this university – a special place for so many – even further than it has come in the past twenty years. Science and education are ever evolving, and so are universities. We are proud to have such a strong foundation to build upon, when building the unique pathway for a future as Constructor University,” said Fabio Pammolli, President of the University
Dr. Serg Bell, Founder and Chairman of Constructor group, Chief Research Officer of Acronis and Chairman of the Board of Governors of Constructor University, signed the contract to become the majority shareholder of the private university in Bremen-Nord just last year. Today, just over one year later, the university received a new name and a new brand, which marks a pivotal transition in the institution’s path along with deeper commitment on behalf of the majority shareholder. With the university’s excellent international reputation in mind, Bell decided to start the process sooner rather than later, in order to uphold and strengthen it in the long run.
The rebranding is based on the rapid growth of the former Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT), founded by Dr. Serg Bell in 2019. As it has become a global organization with locations in more than 15 countries and a global network, this should be reflected in a new and broader brand name: Constructor group. Constructor is a global institution, dedicated to promoting science, education, and cutting-edge technology. Related entities such as Alemira by Constructor, Rolos by Constructor, Constructor Learning and Constructor Capital aim to not only cover the entire learning lifecycle but also to break ground on next-generation research capacities, and platforms.
As a part of this Constructor ecosystem, Constructor University faculty and students will benefit from partnerships with high-ranked universities worldwide, such as Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Geneva, and the National University of Singapore's School of Computing, not to mention the variety of technology and innovation-driven companies.
Since its involvement in the ecosystem, the university has entered partnerships with Anisoprint, known for its 3D printing systems, ChemDiv, a global leader for drug discovery solutions, and JetBrains, a cutting-edge software engineering vendor- giving students the opportunity to network with experts and dive into practical experiences on-site. Another attractive novelty are the online and hybrid study programs in Computer and Data Science, Software Engineering and Entrepreneurship that were just developed this year. Constructor University is currently hosting more students than ever before with 1.800 enrollments, and for them, there are many more exciting developments on the horizon.
