Make a Wish fulfills children’s Christmas dreams

Barbie dolls were at the top of the wish list, as were remote-controlled cars, dinosaurs and stuffed animals. Once again, the "Make a Wish" campaign ensured that the wishes of more than 300 kindergarten children from the Am Fillerkamp and Neuenkirchener Weg daycare centers in Bremen-Nord came true.

Students from the Rotaract Club of Constructor University, the youth organization of the international Rotary movement, organized the campaign in cooperation with the parents' association for psychomotor development support, EPSYMO eV. and Vegesack Marketing. The notes with the children's wishes, worth up to 20 euros, were attached to Christmas trees in Vegesack and on the campus of Constructor University. Students and community members used the notes to purchase the children’s Christmas gifts.

"Seeing the children's curiosity and being able to share in their joy is what makes Make a Wish so special," says Anna-Sophie Stritter, Co-President of the Rotaract Club. "The campaign also connects us with people outside the campus, which is great." The students didn’t stop at organizing the charity project, they also collected donations through their concert series Piano to Forte and a Christmas market that took place on campus at the beginning of December. Make a Wish was also generously supported by the Lions Förderverein Bremen-Lesmona e.V with a donation of 668 Euros.

Anna-Sophie Stritter and her Co-President Pauline Gantzer also were there when the presents were distributed: "I was so touched to see the children so happy - it was just lovely," said Pauline. The two Constructor professors Arvid Kappas and Alexander Lerchl made very convincing appearances as Santas. "It's a really great moment that I'm very grateful for," said Kappas, who was already on duty as Santa Claus last year. "The joy and excitement of the children is simply incomparable."

Special thanks also went to all the donors who got a gift, wrapped it and brought it to the collection points. The 15th year of the wish list campaign can look back on a proud record: a total of more than 4,000 children's wishes were fulfilled.
