Dispensation
Constructor University is legally bound to the Niedersachsentarif GmbH semester ticket contract and thus, a dispensation can only be granted for the predetermined reasons, as stated in the contract.
You may apply for semester ticket dispensation only if:
- you are doing an official study abroad/internship semester, outside the semester ticket area, specifically outside of Germany (no leave of absence)
- you are required by a company, research facility, etc., to spend more than 120 consecutive calendar days outside the semester ticket area, for mandatory study purposes
- you have a handicap pass (Schwerbehindertenausweis) and are eligible for free transportation
Please note that if your dispensation is granted you will not be charged with a semester fee charge (university fees still apply) and you will not receive a semester ticket. It will not be possible to receive it at a later moment in the semester, even if you had to return to Bremen and would be able to make use of your semester ticket.
To apply for the dispensation, please use this form (link is external).
General information
Areas and Means of Transportation
The Deutschland - Semesterticket is valid nationwide on all local public transport (ÖPNV) – i.e. on all short-distance buses, trams, U-Bahns, S-Bahns and regional trains (IRE, RE, RB, RS) between different cities as well as within the destination cities. It can also be used on certain ferry connections (e.g. Hamburg) and cross-border connections (e.g. to Hengelo) – but please check again in each case.
However, the Germany-wide Semester Ticket cannot be used on long-distance transport (e.g. FlixBus, FlixTrain, ICE, IC, EC, NJ, RJ, TGV) – a separate ticket must be purchased for these services.
Detailed information regarding the area of availability of the Germany-wide Semester Ticket for train transportation can be found here.
