Talk by:

Prof. Dr. Traud Winkelmann, University of Hannover, Germany

Title of the talk:

In vito culture techniques for plant propagation and breeding - prospects and challenges

Besides being engaged in teaching German and International Students in the curricula “Horticulture” and “Plant Biotechnology”, our research is mainly focused on gaining a better understanding of plant propagation on the physiological and molecular level. This implies the use of in vitro culture techniques for propagation and breeding of horticultural crops. Protocols for regeneration, transformation, interspecific hybridization and haploid techniques are established and improved to be applied in fundamental research as well as in plant breeding. A recent focus is devoted to study endophytic bacteria regarding their effects on propagation. Another major research topic involves replant disease in Rosaceous plants.

All are welcome!
