Piano to Forte: A Celebration of Music
Piano to Forte: A Celebration of Music
Young, open-minded people from more than a hundred countries study here at Jacobs University. The annual concert Piano to Forte is the largest student-run event on campus. The annual concert shows the diversity of musical talents at Jacobs. This year, it will take place on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th of October, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Jacobs University's Cinema.
In colorfully mixed ensembles, approximately thirty young musicians with performances drawing on the genres of classical, jazz, and rock, as well as traditional melodies from their home countries will perform at this year’s event. Among others, J-Cappella, the Jacobs University choir, will also perform at the event.
The impressive amalgamation of traditional and modern music that has always acted as the highlight of Piano to Forte attracts members not only of the Jacobs community but also of the wider community outside of Jacobs and has projected the true image of diversity and talent that Jacobs’ students have to offer.
Piano to forte will take place for the 8th time this fall – and has already become a real success story at Jacobs University: the initially informal concert has come of age to become the largest event organized by students at Jacobs University – with up to 900 attending the event on the two days.
The attendees of the event would be implicitly making donations towards charitable causes, because the proceeds from the concert-tickets’ sales would go to the student-run clubs here at Jacobs which undertake social-responsibility projects, for instance, the Rotaract Club, the Refugee Support Network, and the Explore Bremen Club.
Tickets for the event cost 3 Euros for students and children, 5 Euros for members of faculty and staff, and 10 Euros for external guests.
