Jacobs University supports the nationwide initiative „Universities for openness, tolerance and against xenophobia” by the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), an association of German universities.

They are reacting to the incidents of racist verbal and physical attacks that have occurred over the past few weeks and months. 92 nations live on campus, internationality and interculturality of student body and academic staff form a core element of Jacobs University. „Everyday we experience how inspiring and enhancing the diversity on campus is“, says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Katja Windt, President of Jacobs University. „We face each other with respect, curiosity and affection.“ All the more incomprehensible are hostilities against strangers.
