CODE is a new kind of university for the digital pioneers of tomorrow that wants to offer students an education that reflects the reality of professional life. Co-Founder and President Manuel Dolderer is one of the educational experts speaking at B³ - Bildung Beyond Boundaries on 8 November.

CODE is a newly-founded private university of applied sciences that is embedded into the vibrant network of Berlin’s digital economy. CODE’s learning concept is simple: To train digital pioneers to gain knowledge through practice rather than theory. In Germany, this concept is an innovation. CODE University of Applied Sciences (CODE) is the first private and state-approved digital product development university in Germany.

The idea for the university came to Thomas Bachem after searching unsuccessfully for a similar university at which to study. Twelve years later he founded CODE with the help of Jonathan Rüth and Manuel Dolderer. They deliberately decided to innovate the existing higher education system from the inside out and from within the framework of educational regulations as an accredited university.

Manuel Dolderer, Co-Founder and President, says: “The digital transformation is happening, and it will change society in a fundamental way. Universities have to think carefully about how to provide students with a relevant skill set for the 21st century. At CODE, we've decided that a self-directed and curiosity-driven learning concept is our way to approach this challenge and to educate the digital pioneers of tomorrow."

The core of the three study programs, Software Engineering, Interaction Design and Product Management, are practical projects, accompanied by seminars and workshops with an advanced flipped-classroom idea. The founders call their learning concept "curiosity-driven education." CODE’s goal is to offer students an education that reflects the reality of professional life.

Manuel Dolderer will be one of the educational experts attending B³ - Bildung Beyond Boundaries, he will talk about “Where are all the disciplines gone at Code University?”.
