,  May 27, 2016 Undergraduate student Nicoleta Copaci has been awarded the prestigious Hofmann Scholarship for her studies in chemistry. For 18 months the August Wilhelm von Hofmann Foundation will fund her studies with €300 per month. Nicoleta Copaci was nominated for the Hofmann Scholarship , an award provided via the German Chemical Society (Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker, GDCh), by Thomas Nugent, Professor of Chemistry at Jacobs University. She is one of only round about 20 students in the whole of Germany to receive this scholarship. In fact this year Jacobs University Bremen has two awardees of Hofmann Scholarship, Inga Dammann is the other one. One year ago, Jacobs chemistry student Anastasia Resetnic won the Hofmann Scholarship as well. Born in Moldova, 20 year old Nicoleta Copaci is about to finish her second year studying for a BSc in Chemistry at Jacobs University. “I recommended her due to her outstanding academic achievements combined with excellent communication skills and a high reliability”, Nugent states. Besides her own studies, Nicoleta has also successfully worked as a Teaching Assistant for the General Organic Chemistry course.  More Information on the German Chemical Society (GDCh): The Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker (GDCh - German Chemical Society) brings together people working in chemistry and the molecular sciences and supports their striving for positive and sustainable scientific advance – for the good of humankind and the environment, and a future worth living for. With this goal in mind, the GDCh promotes chemistry in education, research and application. In addition, GDCh seeks to deepen the understanding and knowledge of the general public about chemistry and its relevance to the world they live in.
