Constructor University hosts its first ever Basketball tournament
Whether it's basketball, soccer, rowing, volleyball or dancing, sports play an important role at Constructor University in Bremen. The university’s Community Coordinators facilitate opportunities for the students to be active and connect with students from other universities through sports. On February 18th the Constructor students invited four teams from universities in the region to partake in a basketball tournament – and won.
"Our semester schedules hardly allow our students to take part in the regular tournaments, so with our support students organize their own to regularly compete in their sports", said Anna Pelz, Community Coordinator at Constructor University and organizer of the UNI-BALL-CUP. It also helps the international university to strengthen its ties in the region and develop cooperations with local and regional universities. Teams are even travelling abroad to compete: last year they participated in the PCU Games in Antwerp and will soon be joining EuroMilano 2023, an international inter-university tournament. “Our students’ wellbeing is our top priority – we always support opportunities where they can develop themselves”, Anna explained.
Five teams took part in the basketball tournament premiere on the campus of Constructor University in Bremen. One team each from the Hamburg School of Business Administration and the Kühne Logistics University in Hamburg, as well as two teams from the University of Bremen took part. In an exciting final, the home team beat a team from the University of Bremen 54 to 44 – and was delighted to win the trophy and a sack full of new basketballs. Entertainment was provided by the student dance club "Campus Crew", which heated up the crowd before the big final.
