On 30 March, passionate programmers had the chance to prove their talent in the Constructor Open Cup 2023. The online competition, organized by Constructor University in cooperation with JetBrains, attracted over 800 enthusiastic participants from all over the world.

Coding against the clock: The participants of the Constructor Open Cup only had four hours to solve real-life programming challenges, whilst the difficulty-level increased with each task. The incentive to be amongst the best and fastest coders was as high as the demands of the competition itself. Because the stakes were high: The winners had the chance of scoring a scholarship for the bachelor's degree program "Data Science and Software Development". The course was developed in cooperation with JetBrains, the leading provider of software development tools, and can be studied at Constructor University in Bremen from September 2023.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the Open Cup contest, particularly the gradual increase in difficulty with each task”, said Milan, a high school student and participant from Serbia. “It was great to see students of different levels and backgrounds taking part in this challenge with enthusiasm. I'm definitely going to prepare for the competition again next year, and I have my heart set on studying the program that JetBrains co-created.”

The Constructor Open Cup - formerly known as the "STAR Contest" – already attracted more than 2,400 participants from 87 countries in the past four years and challenged young coding talents to rise above and beyond.

The aim of the contest is to focus on Computer Science, Data Science, Software Development and Software Engineering and to offer access to this field of studies to a wide range of target groups. The contest was open to all passionate coders, regardless of age, qualifications or previous knowledge.
