Distinguished Scientist Award for guest researcher at Constructor University
Professor Roy F. Baumeister is considered one of the most influential social psychologists in the world. As a "Mercator Fellow", the scientist spends several months throughout the year researching and teaching at the Research Training Group "Social Dynamics of the Self" at Constructor University in Bremen and the University of Bremen. The social psychologist has now been awarded the Distinguished Scientist Award by the Society for Experimental Social Psychology (SESP).
In his more than 700 scientific papers and more than 40 books, Baumeister has primarily dealt with the question of how we think about ourselves and how this determines our thoughts, feelings and actions. His work on willpower, self-control, and self-esteem is particularly well known. The "Mercator Fellow" program, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), enables an intensive and long-term exchange with scientists from Germany and abroad. Prof. Baumeister is involved in the research training group "Social Dynamics of the Self" as a researcher and supports the doctoral students in their projects.
"We are very pleased that this award honors Roy Baumeister's life's work in such an outstanding way and congratulate him warmly. Being able to work with Roy is a great source of inspiration for all of us," said Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kühnen of Constructor University, academic director of the Research Training Group. The U.S.-based SESP is considered one of the world's most important social psychological associations. With this award, the most important personalities in the field are honored.
