Recently appointed to Constructor University as Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, Dr. Jules Coleman has been named the 2024 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.This is his third award from Brooklyn College. He was previously awarded the Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award in 1987 and the Presidential Medal in 2022. In addition to his appointment to the University, Dr. Coleman serves as the Chief Learning Officer of Constructor Knowledge.

Prior to joining the Constructor organization, Coleman most recently served as Senior Vice Provost at New York University as well as a professor of both Philosophy and of Recorded Music and helped nurture New York University-Abu Dhabi during its creation and the early years of its existence. Prior to that, he spent nearly thirty years as the Wesley Newcomb Hohfeld Professor of Jurisprudence at Yale Law School and Professor of Philosophy in Yale University.

The recipient of Honorary Degrees from universities across the globe, Professor Coleman was invited to present the first Clarendon Lectures in Law at Oxford, which resulted in his award-winning book, The Practice of Principle (OUP). His academic research has been influential in shaping law and public policy as well as the academic fields ranging from legal, political and moral theory to game theory and the foundations of economics and the social sciences more generally. He has been recognized for the impact of his work in promoting justice through law by the Attorneys General of Peru and at Conferences celebrating the impact of his work in Colombia, Spain and Italy.

Professor Coleman is also a well-known audio critic, having written most recently for Enjoythemusic.com. In addition to this, Coleman is a professional golf coach with Golf Smart Academy of Los Gatos, California. There, he offers free instruction to both wounded veterans and young children and teenagers from historically disadvantaged groups.
