November 23, 2015 Dr. Eva Stüeken, astrobiologist and Jacobs alumna, has won the prestigious “Viktor-Moritz-Goldschmidt Award” of the German Mineralogical Society.  Eva studied Geosciences & Astrophysics, the forerunner of today’s Earth & Environmental Sciences program. After leaving Jacobs University in 2007 she did her PhD at the Astrobiology Institute of the University of Washington in Seattle and is currently enjoying one of the few NASA Astrobiology Fellowships. The prize was given to her for her outstanding research on environmental conditions during the Precambrian.  “Field work is what I love the most,” says Eva. “There is nothing more rewarding than sitting on a three-billion-year-old rock and philosophizing about the origin of life on Earth and elsewhere.”
