Five students, five continents, five scholarships: Jacobs University Awards Diversity Scholarships
June 27, 2019
Anastassia from Australia, Tuan from Vietnam, Maxwell from Ghana, Ida from Albania and a US-American - these are the five Bachelor's and Master's students who receive the Diversity Scholarship, which Jacobs University Bremen is awarding for the first time this year. With this new scholarship format, the private university is honoring and strengthening its internationality and cultural diversity.
Internationality as a source of inspiration, of learning from one another – that is one of the cornerstones of Jacobs University. Every year, students from all over the world come to the English-language university. Young people from more than 110 nations live and learn together on the campus in Bremen Nord. They not only receive an excellent academic education, but also experience values such as respect, tolerance and respect for cultural, religious and social diversity as well as the opposite sex.
The Diversity Scholarship, which covers tuition fees of around 20,000 euros per year for the entire duration of the course, aims to further promote this intercultural understanding. "The decisive criteria for awarding the scholarships were exceptional academic or school achievements, intellectual creativity and the desire and motivation to make a difference in the world," says Bannour Hadroug, member of the Management Board of Jacobs University responsible for Student Marketing and Recruitment. The three prospective Bachelor's and two prospective Master's students were naturally delighted with receiving the scholarship. "The scholarship is a unique opportunity for me to broaden my horizon and become a citizen of the world," said Tuan on behalf of the quintet. "I have always dreamed of an international education in a unique location and Jacobs University seems to be a bright example of such a diverse environment," adds Anastassia from Australian who will study Global Economics and Management at Jacobs University.
