October 13, 2017

The annual Career Fair at the Campus Center serves as a networking forum for students, graduates, and potential employers under the patronage of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) for Bremen and Bremerhaven. On February 28, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., companies and institutions can present themselves and their entry level positions, internships, trainee programs, and research projects. The accompanying program includes company presentations and workshops for students on career matters as well as the opportunity to get in touch with Jacobs Alumni regarding their professional experiences.

Regionally oriented companies can also present themselves at the Career Fair, just like startups, startups, non-profit-making organizations or international enterprises. Among the exhibitors who already registered for the Jacobs Career Fair are AB InBev, Porsche, Barry Callebaut, Roche, Dräger, Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ, and Marum. A special feature is the fact that some of the exhibiting startups are founded by Jacobs alumni in Germany and other countries.

The fair is open not only to students of Jacobs University but also to students of other universities in the state of Bremen. In February 2017, 1400 students obtained information about the offerings of round about 40 exhibiting companies. Many talks led to the signing of agreements for internships and entry level positions. This is because the Career Fair gives companies an opportunity each year to enter into a direct exchange with talented, motivated, and curious young people from around the world. At Jacobs University alone, for instance, there are students from more than a hundred different countries. An informal networking reception following the fair enables exhibitors to have more in-depth discussions with professors, graduates, and representatives of other companies.
