The international Jacobs University, based in Bremen, is expanding its Executive Board with Dr. Michael Dubbert and has appointed the President, Prof. Dr. Michael Hülsmann, as its new Chairman of the Executive Board.
Michael Dubbert, who holds a degree in business administration and a doctorate in economics, has been Head of Human Resources at Jacobs University since May 2017. As Managing Director and new Member of the Executive Board, he will be responsible for all the business aspects of the university. Michael Hülsmann, who previously served as President and Managing Director, will head the entire Jacobs University as President and Chairman of the Executive Board and will also be responsible for the academic and sales divisions of the English-medium campus university.
Dubbert studied business administration at the University of Essen, specializing in human resources and corporate management, production and costs, as well as business informatics. He received his doctorate in management development and logistics from the Technical University of Darmstadt.
Dubbert started his career with Philips and FAG Kugelfischer and then held positions in the areas of human resources and supply chain management at international companies in the mechanical engineering, automotive and automotive supply industries such as Ingersoll-Rand, Autoliv and Tenneco. After serving as Senior Vice President of Human Resources at MAN AG in Munich, his career took him to Offenburg, where he held global responsibility as Managing Director and Executive Vice President of Neumayer Tekfor Holding. Before joining Jacobs University, he founded and led DMD Management Consulting. Michael Dubbert is married and has two children.
“Michael Dubbert is a proven expert both in the area of human resources management as well as in the business management of international companies,” says President Hülsmann. “He has already done outstanding work for Jacobs University and its staff and initiated important projects. I look forward to working with Michael Dubbert within the Executive Board to make Jacobs University even more attractive to students and business clients, as well as for academics and staff.”
“Thanks to its internationality, its diversity of topics and its spirit as a campus university, Jacobs University is a very special place that I have learned to appreciate very much in recent months as Head of Human Resources,” says Michael Dubbert. “Having had the opportunity of helping to shape the growth trajectory of this university as part of its Executive Board is a wonderful challenge to which I am very much looking forward.”
