Jacobs University welcomes new faculty
On April 1 two new professors have joined Jacobs University.
Dr. Tobias ten Brink (right) has started his Professorship in Chinese Society and Business at Jacobs University. The political scientist joins after a position at the Institute for Political Science at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he worked as a research fellow. In his research, he is focusing on understanding China’s current dynamic development in a comparative perspective, analyzing aspects such as business, industrial development, or innovation. Previously, Dr. ten Brink was a visiting scholar at Sun Yan-Sen University in Guangzhou, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, and a lecturer at the New School for Social Research in New York. Professor ten Brink will play a central role at China Global, Jacobs University’s Center for the Study of China and Globalization.
Dr. Yilmaz Uygun (left) was appointed as Professor of Logistics Engineering, Technologies, and Processes. A major focus of his research will be on the challenges Industry 4.0 poses to logistical processes. Dr. Uygun comes from the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow during the last two and a half years. Previously, he was executive director at the Chair of Factory Organization at TU Dortmund University. Dr. Uygun, who was born in Ahlen (North Rhine-Westphalia) has two PhDs. Upon completion of his graduate studies, he worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics.
