,  May 12, 2016 For her outstanding academic achievements in chemistry, Inga Dammann has been awarded the prestigious Hofmann Scholarship. From now until her graduation, the August Wilhelm von Hofmann Foundation will fund her studies in the amount of €300 per month. Inga studies Chemistry in her second year, and was put forward to the German Chemical Society (GDCh) as a Hofmann Scholarship candidate by Ulrich Kortz, Professor of Chemistry at Jacobs University, in whose laboratory she undertakes inorganic/materials chemistry research. In her research work, she has managed to synthesize and characterize a number of novel organometallic compounds, which is quite unusual for an undergraduate. “In 14 years at Jacobs, she is one of the best students I have had the pleasure to teach,” says Prof. Kortz. The GDCh promotes chemistry in education, research, and application, and seeks to deepen the general public’s understanding and knowledge of chemistry and its relevance to the world.  Questions will be answered by:Prof. Ulrich Kortz | Professor of Chemistryu.kortz [at] jacobs-university.de | Tel.: +49-421-200-3235
