Constructor University and KUKA Assembly & Test GmbH are proud to announce their new partnership with Jugend forscht to host the regional competition in Bremen Nord. This partnership brings together a network of volunteers and local supporting businesses and organizations to engage local school pupils with the opportunity to practice scientific skills by doing research. By joining as official Host Companies, Constructor University and KUKA aim to build a bridge to connect this local network of supporters and school pupils with the professional world of research in both academia and industry.

The upcoming competition’s theme is “Turn questions into answers” and will take place in February 2025 on the Constructor University campus. Students aged 14-21 from the local area will conduct their own MINT-related research projects over the course of the fall with the support of teachers and competition mentors. Participants will then showcase their work to the public and a jury at a competition in the spring which will be produced in collaboration with KUKA’s apprentice program team and other supporting local businesses. The jury will evaluate the research projects and announce the winners, who will receive prizes at a festive award ceremony at the end of the competition.

Jugend forscht encourages and supports talented minds in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It seeks to inspire young people to become involved long term and to help them with their careers. More than 5,000 teachers support Jugend forscht as project advisors and contest managers. Over 3,000 specialists, academics and experts from the business community evaluate the work and their volunteer activities are a crucial pillar of Jugend forscht. Gabriele Breuer, a teacher at the Schulzentrum Vegesack, is one such volunteer serving as the Regional Competiton Bremen Nord leader. She is delighted about the collaboration with the two new Jugend forscht sponsor companies: “Together we want to inspire children, teenagers and young adults aged 10 to 21 for research. We especially want to encourage trainees and students in their first semester to take part in Jugend forscht with their great ideas.”

Jugend forscht is the largest public-private partnership of its kind in Germany with about 250 partners, most of them from the business community. As official hosts, Constructor University and KUKA will use their resources to organize and put on the Regional competition for Bremen Nord, working with other local supporters to donate the prizes and other materials and activities needed to produce the competition events. René Wells, Public Engagement Project Manager for Constructor University, and Melanie Aschoff, Head of HR for KUKA are excited by this new partnership: “By bringing together this diverse range of participants across the research landscape spectrum, our new partnership will strengthen the Bremen Nord community’s capacity and commitment to give the next generation opportunities to succeed for the benefit of all our society,” Wells said.
