Digital methods in higher education
Scientists from Jacobs University, Universität Bremen and Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg have organized a workshop on the role of digital tools and digital methods in classrooms. Why is it that many of them have not found their way into teaching?
The workshop features three speakers: Victoria Szabo (Duke University), Jürgen Handke (Marburg University), and Diogo Casanova (Kingston University London). In addition, there will be a podium discussion on possibilities and challenges regarding digitization of university teaching.
The workshop, amongst others organized by Prof. Arvid Kappas from Jacobs University is supported by a grant from the NOWETAS foundation. It takes places at Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg in Delmenhorst on November 16.
The availability of affordable portable computers and powerful presentation software, particularly Microsoft Powerpoint, has greatly affected learning and teaching in the last couple of decades in school and at university. However, in recent years many developments in digital tools and related digital methods have not found their way into classrooms. Why is this the case?
The workshop is addressed to faculty at Bremen University, Jacobs University Bremen, and Oldenburg University and is supported by a grant from the NOWETAS foundation.
